5 inch gauge Class 35 D7017 battery electric

A 5 inch gauge battery-electric Class 35 Hymek D7017 - the original locomotive, withdrawn in 1975, survives in preservation.

In good condition, this originally ran as one of a pair, double-headed in a master/slave configuration. By moving a switch it can be run independently as a standalone locomotive, as shown here.

Steel chassis with steel-framed bogies, each fitted with a pair of 12 volt 150 watt motors connected to a 4QD 24V controller, with gear drive to the axles. Body is in fibreglass.

Complete with hand controller, the locomotive requires a pair of batteries.
