5 inch gauge GWR 4-6-0 No.7806 "Cockington Manor"

A 5 inch gauge GWR Manor, No.7806 "Cockington Manor", a particularly well-built engine which has come to us direct from the builder. A highly capable engineer and member of his local model engineering society for thirty-five years, arthritis has increasingly made handling the Manor difficult to handle given its size and weight.

The commercially built boiler has extensive club history going back to 2002 when supplied new, it's had recent hydraulic and steam tests here with new certification issued.

Fit and finish of machined parts is very good, platework is neatly formed and fitted, the paintwork - after more than twenty seasons running - remains in excellent condition, a tribute to the builder's meticulous maintenance regime.

On test the engine proved free-steaming and ran exceptionally well, notching up in either direction.

The builder has taken trouble over small details that make the engine easier to operate and maintain, including a valve chest pressure gauge, highly effective double-acting hand pump and easily accessible tender draincock (and you'd be surprised how many tenders we have to turn upside down to empty!)

We really like this one - it's a handsome, thoroughly well-sorted locomotive in fine condition.

Supplied with12 months warranty and a starter kit including coal, oil and a set of firing irons. If required we would be more than happy to include half a day's training at our works on the firing, driving and disposal of the engine for a new owner.
