5 inch gauge GWR 4-6-0 "King John"

A 5 inch gauge Great Western "King". It has been unused for many years, on display in the hallway of a house on the South Coast having been inherited by the builder's daughter - she remembers it being steamed on her father's garden railway when first built.

Silver soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, feed by twin injectors. Three element radiant superheaters. Four gunmetal cylinders with piston valves - inside valves actuated by Walschaert's gear working outside valves by rockers. Mechanical lubricator.

A well made engine, fit and finish of the chassis is good. It runs well, notches up nicely and makes steam like it's going out of fashion - we had it running on the rolling road much of this afternoon (there's a clip of it here), Steve was itching to throw it in the van and get it down to the club!
