5 inch gauge LMS 2F 0-6-0T

A 5 inch LMS 2F 0-6-0T, built to the Austen-Walton "Twin Sisters" design. A very finely built locomotive, it's come to us as part of a collection of five engines from a single builder, which included the magnificent Britannia "Apollo" we've recently sold.

The engine was run on the builder's garden railway in the past, although appears to have had little use. We collected it from the late builder's workshop, where it was partially stripped, with cab and some pipework removed, for works unspecified.

Since arriving with us the boiler has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test with new certification issued.

The chassis runs well on air - we particularly liked the large inspection plugs fitted into the valve chest covers, allowing for easy valve setting.

There are some minor pieces of pipework missing, the leaf spring are too soft and need beefing up with some additional steel leaves.

A particularly handsome design, we have often wondered why more haven't been built. This one has the potential, with a small amount of work, to rank with the very best examples - it's a super thing.
