5 inch gauge LNER O1 2-8-0

A 5 inch gauge LNER O1 2-8-0, designed by Thompson for freight work and introduced from 1944. The restrictions imposed by the war at that time meant that the O1 was classfied as a "rebuild" of the First World War era Class 04 "ROD" 2-8-0 - in reality, little remained of the original locomotive once finished.

Work to date is to a good standard - underneath the muck is a well-built locomotive chassis which runs nicely on air in both directions, along with a tender chassis.
