5 inch gauge LNER O1 2-8-0

An LNER O1 2-8-0, Thompson's wartime heavy freight locomotive, built to Martin Evans' 5 inch gauge "Nigel Gresley" design which was serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine from 1968 to 1970. An older engine, well built originally but now requiring some maintenance work and a repaint.

The engine steams freely and runs well, with some play in the coupling rods bushes and die blocks. All water feeds work well, safety valves open and shut reliably, the steam brakes are effective.

Drain cocks are the automatic, spring-loaded type which work after a fashion - originally fitted with mechanically operated drains, the linkage is still there if you want to revert to the positive action type.

Boiler has previous club history, it's had recent hydraulic and steam tests in the workshop with certification issued for same.

Complete with drawings.
