5 inch gauge LNWR Problem class "Lady of the Lake" 2-2-2

A 5 inch gauge "Problem" class 2-2-2, John Ramsbottom's 7ft 6in single wheel express locomotive designed for the London & North Western Railway.

Class member "Lady of the Lake" was exhibited at the Great London Exposition of 1862, apparently attracting a great deal of attention.

The engines were originally fitted with Giffard injectors - these proved unsatisfactory in service and were replaced by crosshead pumps.

This engine is the work of a prolific builder, responsible for many engines over the years - we've sold several of them in the past. We have some documentation with it, including past club boiler certification.

I love the notion of naming a class of engines "Problem" - it's the sort of thing that wouldn't get past the first marketing meeting these days.
