5 inch gauge LSWR Adams radial tank

A finely built 5 inch gauge Adams Radial tank, this one came to us from the same owner as the 7 1/4 inch gauge LSWR O2 we sold recently.

The engine is in excellent condition, the lightly coloured smokebox and close fitting valve gear and motionwork showing evidence of light use and careful maintenance.

It runs particularly well, the boiler is free-steaming, the chassis notching up in either direction - there's some video of it running on the rolling road here.

A large, handsomely proportioned locomotive, it gives many of the benefits of a tender engine - large wheels, stable running with leading and trailing wheels - without having to lean over a tender to drive.
