5 inch gauge "Maid of Kent" with commercial boiler

An 5 inch gauge 4-4-0 to LBSC's "Maid of Kent" design in Stephenson's valve gear, inside cylinder form.

Chassis comprises erected frames with bogie truck, driving wheel axles and gunmetal cylinders complete with pistons, valves, rods, glands and crossheads.

The crank axle is fitted with eccentric sheaves, there is a set of four eccentric rods with straps loose in a box of parts, along with expansion links and die nuts.

Driving wheels are all machined, ready to be fitted to axles - standard of machining throughout is to a good standard.

Copper boiler is a beautifully made job, commercially built by Chambers of Weymouth.

Little by way of extra expenditure would be required to get the chassis running on air - included in a box of parts is the reverser stand, weighshaft with bearings and lifting links.

One of our favourite designs, the 7 inch diameter wheels give the engine a relaxed gait on the track. We've had lots in over the years, done up in a variety of styles, from Southern L1 to Midland Compounds.
