5 inch gauge Maxitrak ''Coronation'' 0-4-0

A 5 inch gauge Maxitrak battery-electric "Coronation" 0-4-0 shunter, in our eyes one of the best looking small shunters they produced. Introduced in 1983, it featured a cast aluminium chassis and bodywork, production continuing until 2006.

This one came in recently as part of small collection of 5 inch gauge steam and battery-electric locomotives and rolling stock. In good condition it runs well, powered by a Framco 12 volt motor, driving through steel gears to the rear axle.

The paintwork is bright with minor age-related wear.
