5 inch gauge Maxitrak "Simplicity II" 0-4-0

A Maxitrak Simplicity II, one of their larger battery electric shunters, originally supplied in both 5 and 7 1/4 inch variants, built on the same chassis.

Well-used, with a Lucas Marine TM3055H motor driven by a 2QD-70-12/36V controller with handset. Although supplied without a battery, it's been tested and runs in both directions; horn works, lights don't.

The motor drives an intermediate shaft, which then drives both axles by chain.

The rear of the cab has been removed to allow easier access to the controls, some of which have been moved to the handset for ease of driving.

The handbrake acts on the rear axle - pull to stop, there is no ratchet fitted.
