5 inch gauge "Metre Maid" 0-6-0T

A 5 inch narrow gauge 0-6-0T + tender locomotive, the first started to Jack Buckler's "Metre Maid" design (although not the first finished - other things intervened!).

A well built locomotive, we like this builder's take on the design, with side tanks and dome rather than the more commonly seen saddle tank.

The commercially built boiler has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued, needing little more than the injectors cleaning and a new blowdown valve fitting in preparation for running. The right hand injector overflows slightly although fills the boiler quickly.

The engine steamed freely and ran well on test, as expected from this particularly well-sorted design.
