5 inch gauge Planet battery-electric shunter

A 5 inch gauge Maxitrak Planet 0-4-0 battery electric shunter. Supplied new in 2020, it's seen occasional use on the owner's garden railway doing passenger service for his grandchildren.

Robustly constructed with steel cab and bodywork, and featuring four 60 watt motors with gear drive to the axles. The engine is fitted with a horn, and runs well in both directions.

Rated by the manufacturer for pulling six adults and capable of negotiating an 8 foot radius curve. While now updated with the latest 2026-issue specifications, there's a useful page on the Maxitrak website here.
