5 inch gauge "Super Simplex" 0-6-0T

A well built 5 inch gauge 0-6-0T to Martin Evans' "Super Simplex" design.

The silver-soldered copper boiler by Cheddar has had a fresh hydraulic test with certification issued - for some reason its last club ticket had downrated the working pressure from 110psi to 90psi, we've restored it to the 110psi design pressure on our documentation.

The axle pump drips from the soldered joint, but takes up under steam.

The engine runs well in both directions, slightly better in reverse, with some clatter in the motion commensurate with wear; the safety valves blew off at 110psi and didn't accumulate, we've issued new steam test certification.

The LHS drain cock works, but doesn't shut without kinetic persuasion - this will require investigation.

The engine is fitted with hand pump, mechanical pump and a single No.2 injector. This proved most effective at lower pressure, but fails to pick up at anything above 40psi.

A capable performer, rather more rare than the standard "Simplex" - there's scope here for a powerful but still portable club locomotive, with a few recommissioning jobs to do over winter.
