7 1/4 inch gauge USRA reefer car

A 7 1/4 inch gauge "Reefer" refrigerated boxcar; well-detailed, it was built using parts and castings imported from the USA.

Originally developed in the nineteenth century for carrying loads of perishable goods long distance across the USA - typical loads included meat, fruit, vegetables and even ice.

The work of a highly experienced model engineer, a man responsible for several fine locomotives including an LNER A3 and the fabulous Southern Pacific Mikado which we sold recently.
