A 7 1/4 inch gauge BR Standard Class 2 Mogul; commission built by - in our opinion - one of the best professional model engineers working in the UK; it is unsteamed from new.
The engine has come to us as part of a large collection of locomotives from gauge 1 to 7 1/4 inch gauge - all either historically interesting or particularly finely built, often both - which will be listed over the coming months.
There's virtually nothing we can say about this one that the pictures opposite don't convey more eloquently. A superbly built locomotive, one of the top handful in terms of quality, fit, finish, detail and paintwork that we've had in any gauge over the past twenty years.
Highly detailed, it was built after lengthy discussions between builder and patron to represent an engine he used to see as a young man living in Newcastle in the 1950s, at a time when 78010 was shedded at Northallerton.
The locomotive has a commercially built boiler by Kingswood, complete with maker's documentation. It has been run on air once by the builder to set the valves and remains in ex-works condition throughout.
Complete with a purpose built storage stand on castors. Again professionally built, it's brand new - the engine was put on it for the first time ever when it arrived at our workshop.
