7 1/4 inch gauge Class 17 battery electric

A 7 1/4 inch gauge Class 17 battery-electric by 17D. This one has come to us as part of a larger collection of 7 1/4 inch gauge locomotives and rolling stock which saw service on a private railway in the south of England.

Regular readers will know we hold 17D's products in high regard - well-conceived, robustly built and pretty much bullet-proof, they're built to do a job of work. Customers who've bought Class 17s seem to hang on to them - this is only the second one we've ever had in - there are some pictures of the other one which we sold back in 2020 here.

Complete with batteries - on arrival, both read 100% condition on our meter, with 100% charge in one and 97% in the other.

Bodywork and paint is overall in good condition, with some superficial cracking to the superstructure which could, if one were worried about it, be filled and resprayed. However the performance of the locomotive, it affects not a jot.

Fitted with two tone horns, with illuminated number boards at each end. There are LED running lights fitted, although only the reverse set wanted to work when we tested the locomotive.
