7 1/4 inch gauge GWR 14xx tank locomotive

Brand new 7 1/4 inch gauge model of a Great Western 14xx 0-4-2 tank locomotive. Professionally assembled from a kit, the engine has its initial twice pressure hydraulic test certificate and has yet to be steamed.

 

The silver-soldered copper boiler has a working pressure of 120psi, fed by axle pump, injector and auxiliary hand pump. Inside cylinders 1 3/4 x 3 1/4 with Stephenson's valve gear operated by screw reverser in the cab.

Although a large, powerful engine capable of pulling 12 adults, the 0-4-2 wheel arrangement gives a short rigid wheelbase allowing it to negotiate a 15 foot radius curve.
