7 1/4 inch gauge "Holmside" 0-6-0T

A 7 1/4 inch gauge 0-6-0ST to Martin Evans' "Holmside" design, the work of a highly experienced engineer who built many locomotives over a forty year period, from gauge 1 tank engines up to a 7 1/4 inch gauge A4 and pretty much everything in between.

Used for occasional club running by its builder, the Holmside is a well built engine which he maintained in good order. It's one of the nicest running examples we've had in recent years; free-steaming it notches up in either direction with crisp, square exhaust beats - there's some video of it here.

Some nice, practical details on this one make running and servicing easier, including a saddle tank water gauge in the cab and frame-mounted oilers piped down to the axleboxes.

The engine has been serviced in our workshop, the regulator refaced on the mill to rectify a slight leak, the boiler has had a hydraulic test off the frames with cladding removed, followed by steam test with certification issued for same.
