7 1/4 inch gauge Quarry Hunslet with tender

A 7 1/4 inch gauge quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST "Llyn Padarn", built to 4 inch scale and complete with ride in tender.

The engine steams freely and runs well - it has spent much of its life on a small private railway in company with a "Bridget" and the GP38 we sold recently.

With a silver soldered copper boiler by the estimable John Ellis, feed is by a pair of injectors piped to the tender - the saddle tank is unused. Unusually for a narrow gauge locomotive, the boiler is equipped with a formidable looking array of four stainless steel radiant superheaters.

Fitted with vacuum brake equipment, at working pressure it pulls 20 inches of vacuum quickly - there is a driver's brake valve and vacuum gauge in the cab.

Cab is well laid out and neatly piped up; twin water gauges are fitted, gauge protectors have chevron backing plates. The backhead is fitted with nicely formed and polished brass cleading.

Locomotive and tender are fitted with checkchains for running and eye-bolts for lashing down in transport.
