7 1/4 inch gauge Liverpool & Manchester Railway "Lion"

A finely made 7 1/4 inch gauge Liverpool & Manchester Railways, the work of an experienced engineer responsible for many locomotives including, in this gauge, an 0-6-0T "Holmside", Baldwin 4-4-0, an LNER B1 "Roedeer" and A4 Pacific "Sir Nigel Gresley".

Unsteamed from new, the locomotive ticks over beautifully on 15 pounds of air, with crisp, even beats in both directions.

The commercially built, CE-marked copper boiler is by Kingswood Boilers, complete with manufacturer's original certification. Since arriving with us the boiler has had a repeat hydraulic test at 135psi for 90psi working pressure, with new certification issued.

The tender is part built and comprises erected frames and a set of wheel castings.
