SECOND HAND
7570
A 7 1/4 inch gauge LMS Fowler 4F, rarely modelled in this gauge. Underneath a recent, rather dubious paintjob, there is a nicely made engine, the work of a careful builder - eccentric straps are all number stamped, the motion work assembled with taper pins.
Commercially built silver soldered copper boiler by Cornish Boilers, 100psi working pressure, three element flue tube superheaters, feed by twin injectors with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Twin spring type safety valves. Cast iron cylinders with piston valves actuated by Stephenson's gear with screw reverser, mechanical lubricator.
The engine is complete with a pair of well-made carrying crates, seat, detachable tender foot pegs and steam raising pipe for compressed air start. Paintwork is functional rather than decorative (and then some...) - given how well the engine runs, this would be a good candidate for a cosmetic overhaul over the winter, it has the potential to make an attractive engine. On test in the workshop it steamed well and ran nicely on the rolling road - quite taken with this one.
