SECOND HAND
7220
A 7 1/4 inch gauge Orenstein & Koppel 0-4-0 well tank, recently arrived from France as part of a large collection we went over to fetch a few weeks ago. Unused in many years, it used to run on the owner's garden railway in the grounds of his rather magnificent house (now sadly about to be demolished to make way for flats).
Welded steel boiler, 120psi working pressure (or 8 bar if you want to be continental) - there's a rather magnificent copper medallion attached to the backhead detailing the boiler build date and working pressure. Feed by axle pump with auxiliary hand pump on the footplate - there's pipework in place for an injector, now long gone.
Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walshaerts gear, pole reverser in the cab. Rod-operated drain cocks.
Essentially in running order, the engine require some recommissioning work including new safety valve springs, mechanical brake reconnecting and provision of an injector. Motionwork is serviceable but coming up to needing some rebushing. Boiler has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test and ultrasonic thickness survey before we steamed it - there's a clip of it running outside the workshop here.
Complete with a rear cab sheet, still painted in the engine's original (more attractive) green livery.
