7 1/4 inch gauge "Sweet William" 0-4-0ST

A "Sweet William", run once on air to set the valves but otherwise new and unsteamed. The work of a retired engineer, the engine was built as one of a pair - the other has been running at its new owner's club for some years. With over forty locomotives to his credit over nearly fifty years - either built from scratch or extensive rebuilds - he has now moved to 3 1/2 inch gauge as somewhat easier to handle, a "Tich", "Jinty" and Black 5 all on the bench at the moment.

Professionally built boiler by John Rex Model Engineers, 120psi working pressure, welded steel contruction with expanded tubes. Stainless steel grate. Feed by twin axle pumps and hand pump beneath the nearside footplate. Bronze fountain with steam takeoff for blower and draincocks, there is a spare union for an injector should you want to fit one. Twin spring type safety valves with brass chimneys venting through cab roof, twin bronze three cock water gauges with blowdowns piped below footplate.

Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Hackworth gear, pole reverser in the cab. Twin mechanical lubricators, with twin auxiliary displacement lubricators.

Very crisply machined and fitted, nice details including remote oilers for the axleboxes, neat pipework throughout.
