7 1/4 inch gauge Swiss steeple cab locomotive 0-4-0 and DB Essen packwagen

A 7 1/4 inch gauge Swiss steeple cab locomotive, complete with a driving truck in the form of a DB Essen Packwagen which carries an additional set of batteries.

A large, heavy locomotive of considerable power and adhesive weight, it has recently been rewired and fitted with a new 4QD Pro-160 140 amp controller with RBT handset and relay board.

The locomotive is powered by a pair of EMD 24 volt motors, there are separate air brakes for the locomotive and driving truck. The compressor for the brakes is situated in the tender, it also provides air for a very effective whistle mounted in the locomotive.

Batteries can be charged in situ via a charging port, the second set in the tender are wired in parallel with the locomotive batteries, providing power for the compressor and boosting power of the traction motors when connected.
