Alyn Foundry "RLE" engine

The "RLE" hit and miss engine was a fine, well proportioned design - one of the most popular of a range of engines produced by Alyn Foundry.

The company went on to sell 300 sets of RLE castings, many of which by now must be running engines - we've sold several over the years including this nice example we sold in 2021.

The business ceased trading around 2008/2009 and, despite rumours over the years that production may restart, the castings have never again been available. We understand that the patterns and drawings for this fine range of engines survive in store, so "perchance it is not dead, but sleepeth"...

In the meantime, this is what appears to be a complete, unmachined set of castings, complete with gears, stock material, drawings, spark plug and ignition coil.

There is some light corrosion due to storage, but would remove easily with Scotchbrite.
