Award-winning large vertical engine

An award winning vertical engine, which took 1st place in the stationary engine class at the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition when first completed.

The builder was a time-served engineer and lifelong model maker - starting with LBSC's "Mona" in 3 1/2 inch gauge he went on to build several award-winning locomotives and stationary engines, including the 5 inch gauge Hunslet which we currently have in stock.

A large engine, weighing in at nearly 200 pounds and standing five feet high on its stand. It runs - as expected - very well on air; with its modest bore and long stroke it could be run from a relatively small boiler. Beautifully made, fit and finish is excellent throughout.
