We sold this one back in 2018, a model which had come to us direct from the builder. It sold at the time to a long time customer in Switzerland, a man with many fine models in his collection.

It came back to us last year with several other engines as, now retired, he decided to downsize. The others sold back then, this one was kept back for display on my desk at home - it was just too nice to let go!

Words below are from 2018 - the pictures opposite were taken earlier this week.

An exhibition quality, quarter scale model of a de Havilland Gipsy Mk1, the 5 litre engine designed by Frank Halford in 1927 to power the Moth biplane.

I won't dilate at length on this one, the words tell much of the story. Built to the Les Chenery design, it's the work of a highly talented engineer; we've had several of his models over the years, including Bentley Rotary, Stuart Turner triple expansion and Red Wing open crank engines, as well as a 3 1/2 inch gauge Stanier 2-6-4T locomotive, all built to the same high standard.
