Fenby Corliss valve mill engine

A very fine model of a Corliss valve mill engine to the Anthony Mount design; built to exhibition standard and displayed in an engine room setting, the work of a man with several other very fine stationary engines to his credit which we've sold in recent weeks.

Fit and finish is to an excellent standard throughout, the engine is finely painted - it's one of those models where, the longer you look at it, the more you see.

We particularly like the centrifugal big end oiler, double-nutted bearing caps, beautifully proportioned hinged oil pot lids and Watt's governor with screw speed adjustment - not to mention the superintendent's well-equipped work bench, with working vice, a good range of hand tools and his cup of tea with teaspoon and bottle of milk behind it at the ready!

There's a "Greenwood & Batley" maker's plate on the engine - the company made Corliss engines for the textile industry, as well as battery-electric industrial locomotives (regular readers may remember the sit-in locomotive with "GREENBAT" maker's plate which we sold earlier in the year).

Complete with drawings and construction articles, the engine runs well on air - there's some video here.
