Gauge 1 Aristocraft "Mikado" 2-8-2

We sold this one in September last year to a regular customer, a driver on the LNER. On display since, it's recently come back in as part-exchange.

A gauge 1 Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad Mikado by Accucraft.

The boiler has had a hydraulic test, with new certification issued, the chassis runs on air.

Something of a hybrid steam/electric confection, the tender-mounted control panel looks like something from mission control, with switches and indicators for reverser, regulator, lights and sound.

We can report that of the three lights at the front the middle one works every time, the right hand one most of the time and the left hand one never. The motor operating the reverser works, the one to operate the regulator doesn't. Whistle, engine and bell sounds all work, with a speaker fitted in the tender. There is no transmitter for the radio control.

There is a "period piece" video by Aristocraft showing how to steam and run the engine, linked below and a copy of the original instruction manual here.
