Gauge 1 Southern K Class Mogul

A gauge 1 Southern Railways K Class Mogul - orginally designed for the LB&SCR by Lawson Billinton, he considered it his finest design and, in retirement, built a superb 9 1/2 inch gauge model from original works drawings which we sold some years ago.

This one has come to us from a long time customer and highly experienced model engineer, with many 5 inch locomotives to his credit, several of which have appeared here over the last twenty years. The Mogul has been a "back burner" restoration project for many years - now well into retirement he's decided to thin out of some of his collection.

The engine runs well on air in either direction. Boiler is untested due to a copiously leaking clack valve on the mechanical pump which will require stripping and overhauling before any meaningful kind of hydraulic test can be done.
