2 inch scale Sanderson 12hp beam engine

A 2 inch scale Sanderson 12hp beam engine, scaled up from the 1 inch design by H.Clarkson of York.

The castings were produced by Gratton Model Engineering of Derby, better known for their work on large scale traction engines. We've never come across a set of these, much less a completed model - does another exist?

This engine was the work of a time-served, award-winning engineer with many fine models to his credit, built over a fifty year period, including a spectacular large vertical engine and fine 3 inch scale Hunslet.

It is complete, although has never had either pump or governor fitted. The engine runs well on air, with the base blocked up slightly to give the flywheel clearance - we assume it was intended to sit on another plinth when finished.

Rather a magnificent thing, of a size we rarely see in model beam engines.
