Leak compound engine

A compound launch engine to the A.A.Leak design; originally drawn up for use in a 25-35 foot hull, the engine is rated at 11.2ihp at 450rpm on 120psi.

Quite a rare thing, we had another back in 2005 (there are pictures in the archive here), collected (along with a hugely heavy vertical boiler) by a group of young men claiming they were going to put it in a locomotive.

Sounded like a good scheme, I thought no more about it until, some years later, it popped up at the Ffestiniog's first "Quirks & Curiosities" gala as "Leary" - there's some more information about that engine with some pictures on Festipedia here. They'd made a nice job of it.

This engine is complete and turns over. It has a non-standard reversing handle fitted, with the original type included in a box of bits, along with an air pump and various other odds & sods.

If you're planning either a big boat or a quirky narrow gauge locomotive, could be just what you need. It's complete with a well-thumbed and annotated copy of the original build series from "Model Engineer" mgazine.
