Machinery for model steamers

An old model traction engine of freelance design, built to around 2 1/2 inch scale.

Coal-fired copper boiler fed by crankshaft-driven mechanical pump with bypass and injector. Single cylinder with Stephenson's link motion. Mechanical lubricator, drain cocks. Two speed transmission with winch mounted behind nearside rear wheel. There is a spare steam takeoff on the manifold with valve which could be used to fit a water lifter.

The engine was rallied regularly until eight years ago when the owner started to build a bigger engine. It now needs some refurbishment and has a leak from a longitudinal stay on the backhead.

Length 41 inches
Weight 150 pounds
