"ME" Beam engine

A finely made "ME" beam engine, another from the collection recently arrived which includes the Galloway non-dead centre engine, Corliss tandem compound and triple expansion amongst others.

Built to the Oliver Smith design, serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine and representative of a typical mid-nineteenth century engine, complete with water pump and geared layshaft with auxiliary drive pulley.
