SECOND HAND

One of my favourite Stuart engines, a well-made "Sirius" sounds utterly unlike any other steam engine - at low revs they make a noise like a motorboat, at the frantic revs (and pressures) used by the hydroplane racers closer to an aircraft engine!
Introduced by Stuart Turner over seventy years ago, it was originally intended as a utility design for generating and other applications requiring a compact, powerful engine, featuring cast iron pistons with a steel crankshaft running in a fully-enclosed sump.
This engine is well on the way to completion. Standard of machining is good throughout, it has the potential to make up into a fine example of this rather rare model. Complete with a set of "Model Engineer" magazines containing the detailed "Tubal Cain" build writeup. Most parts appear to be present, although no gears - there are one or two bits which, whilst Stuart are certainly not Sirius.
