A Reeves "Monarch" vertical engine, a small model of purposeful proportions, the Bob Hoskins of the stationary engine world. Slip eccentric reversing gear and a balanced crank make for a useful engine made to do a job of work - I imagine it would work well coupled to a pump or dynamo.
