Stuart 5A vertical engine

A Stuart 5A vertical engine, nicely made it runs well on air with slight runout at the flywheel rim. This one has come to us from a long time customer, a fine engineer whose work has featured regularly in these pages.

One of the largest of the Stuart engines, we've seen these fitted in everything from steam canoes to vertical boiler locomotives - Stuart rate it 1 1/2 bhp at 800rpm on 100psi steam.

Complete with drain cocks and drip lubricators fitted to the trunk guide and top cylinder cover.
