Early Stuart No.8 mill engine

A vintage Stuart No.8 horizontal engine, in need of restoration and missing its connecting rod.

A worthwhile project - the early No.8s had something of a "No.9's little sister" feel about them with elegantly tapered bed plate, heavy flywheel and slipper type crosshead assembly.

The design was simplified in later years to make construction easier for the beginner, with the substitution of a cast trunk guide for the guide bar arrangement.
