Vintage horizontal workshop engine

A vintage horizontal engine, a small full-sized engine rather than large model, we suspect it powered some small piece of machinery in a workshop.

We originally sold this one in "barn find" condition earlier in the year to a long-time customer of ours, a highly capable engineer with an excellent eye for detail and in-depth knowledge of engines from this era.

We think he's made a superb job of this one - sympathetic conservation rather than a wholesale rebuild which would have lost much of its character.

The engine turns over freely and runs on air; there is wear evident in the connecting rod bearings and a small crack in a big end shell. Whilst all could have been replaced, it would have meant losing original material - the decision was made to leave it as originally built.
