Vintage single cylinder vertical engine with pump

A vintage vertical engine of imposing proportions, with a belt driven water pump delivering into a copper hopper.

Rather a fabulous old thing, we suspect that is was built pre-war. It turns over freely and runs well on air with, unsurprisingly given its age, wear evident in main bearings, big end, small end and eccentric strap.

An engine that needs conservation rather than restoration - what remains of the paintwork is almost certainly original, if nowadays a good deal darker than when first applied.
