Vulcan beam engine

An A-frame beam engine to Edgar Westbury's "Vulcan" design, based on a typical early nineteenth century practice and serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine from 1954.

The engine runs on air in rather desultory fashion, attention to slide valve and eccentric settings would be time well spent. There is some play in the bearings - more a symptom of manufacture than wear.

All that said, rather attractively finished on a purpose-built wooden base with faux cast iron spiral staircase up to the engine floor.
