"Vulcan" beam engine

An exceptionally well-built "Vulcan" beam engine, designed by Edgar Westbury based on a mid-nineteenth century prototype and serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine in 1954.

Built by T.D."Tom" Walshaw of Kendal, a well known engineer, designer and author, writing under the pen name "Tubal Cain" in "Model Engineer" magazine.

Mounted on a wooden base, with perspex dust cover.
