The silver soldered copper boiler was hydraulic tested at 250psi for 30 minutes when completed by the builder; since arriving with us it's had a twice working pressure test with all fittings, showing no leaks or distortion - a beautifully made thing which we would warranty as sound.
The chassis runs well on air in either direction with even exhaust beats.
Side tanks are not fitted with a balance pipe - the builder's choice - instead each tank feeding its own injector. The air pump on the original locomotive has been converted on the model to a boiler feed pump.
For driving the dummy coal load lifts out to expose a hand pump, the rear cab panel removes to allow easy access to firehole door and controls.
